- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar

- 1/2 cup apple sauce
- 1/2 cup milk (or almond milk for a dairy-free option)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup diced apples (any sweet variety)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, combine the apple sauce, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg. Mix well until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean. Allow donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack.
- To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary.
- Once the donuts are cool, dip the tops into the glaze and place them back on the wire rack to set.
