Description

Learn how to make delicious Baked Cajun Salmon with Avocado. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 ripe avocados, diced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion

Feel free to substitute the Cajun seasoning with a homemade blend of paprika, cayenne, thyme, and oregano if you have those spices on hand. The beauty of home cooking is making it your own, just like I did with pantry staples during my college days.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet and brush with olive oil.
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the salmon fillets, pressing lightly to adhere.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is opaque in the center.
  6. While the salmon is baking, prepare the avocado topping by combining the diced avocado, lime juice, cilantro, and red onion in a medium bowl. Gently toss to mix.
  7. Once the salmon is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  8. Top each fillet with a generous spoonful of the avocado mixture just before serving.

Remember to trust your senses; the aroma of the spices and the sight of the salmon turning a lovely pink hue are your allies in creating this dish.
