Description
Learn how to make delicious Easy White Chocolate Peppermint Pretzel Crisps. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bag (about 6 ounces) of pretzel crisps or pretzel thins
- 8 ounces white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
- Optional: sea salt flakes for sprinkling
If you don’t have peppermint extract on hand, you can substitute with vanilla extract for a milder flavor, or omit it altogether for a pure white chocolate and pretzel combo. For the peppermint candies, crushed hard candies work well, but crushed holiday mints or even freeze-dried peppermint pieces can add a nice texture and color.
Instructions
- Begin by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will be your workspace to assemble and set the pretzel crisps without sticking.
- Place your pretzel crisps in a single layer on the parchment-lined sheet. Make sure they’re spaced slightly apart so the chocolate can coat each one evenly.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each until smooth and creamy. This gentle melting prevents the chocolate from burning—a lesson I learned the hard way during my early kitchen experiments.
- Stir the peppermint extract into the melted white chocolate. Start with half a teaspoon and taste if possible; you can add a little more if you want a stronger peppermint punch.
- Using a spoon, drizzle or spread the white chocolate mixture over each pretzel crisp. You want enough to coat them well but not so much that it becomes a thick layer—aim for a glossy, even coverage.
- Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies generously over the chocolate-coated pretzels while the chocolate is still wet. If you like, add a pinch of sea salt flakes on top to enhance the salty-sweet contrast.
- Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes, or until the white chocolate is fully set and firm to the touch.
- Once set, break any pretzels that might be stuck together and transfer the crisps to an airtight container. I find this is a great moment to gather my family around and share the results—Eli’s seal of approval always means a lot.
