Description
Learn how to make delicious ground beef kabobs. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 zucchini, sliced into rounds
- Wooden or metal skewers
Feel free to substitute with turkey or chicken if you prefer a leaner meat. For a vegetarian twist, you could even use chickpeas blended with breadcrumbs and spices.
Instructions
- Start by soaking the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning. If you’re using metal skewers, you can skip this step.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated. This is where I like to get my hands dirty, just like when I experimented with that oversalted chili all those years ago.
- Form the mixture into small, oval-shaped patties, about the size of your palm. These will be threaded onto the skewers later.
- Thread the beef patties onto the skewers, alternating with pieces of bell pepper and zucchini slices. This not only adds flavor but also makes for a colorful presentation.
- Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat and brush it with olive oil. Once hot, place the skewers on the pan.
- Cook the kabobs for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is well browned and cooked through. You’ll know they’re done when they have a nice char and the vegetables are tender.
- Remove from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving. Resting helps the juices redistribute, ensuring each bite is juicy and flavorful.
