Description
Learn how to make delicious pasta with ketchup recipe. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces of spaghetti or any pasta of your choice
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of heat)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
- Fresh basil leaves, torn (optional, for garnish)
Feel free to substitute the spaghetti with any pasta you have on hand. If Parmesan isn’t available, a sprinkle of nutritional yeast can give you that cheesy flavor without the dairy.
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and drain the rest.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.
- Stir in the ketchup and red pepper flakes, if using. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and divide the pasta among serving plates. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves, if desired.
One thing I’ve learned from those early days of experimenting is that pasta water is a secret weapon for creating creamy sauces. Don’t skip on saving some—it can make all the difference in achieving the perfect texture.
